Requires Java which comes with most web browsers. If the game does not load, you may need to install Java (see your web browser's website for upgrades). If you experience problems while playing, try the no sound option which may be more stable for some platforms or older browsers. Anyone can play and post their name and score, however if you enter a registered member name, you must also enter a password. See the members list to avoid name conflicts. Be sure to collect the powerups that appear when you blast the rocks. Powerups will either give you bonus points, weapon powerups or shields. Weapon and shield bonuses last for 10 seconds. If you acquire another powerup before the previous one of the same type runs out, the 10 seconds is added to the total powerup time. Powerups persist from one level to the next. Performance/graphics tuning: If you are using an older computer or graphics card, you may notice a performance improvement by setting your display color depth to 16bpp (a.k.a. 'high color' or 'thousands of colors'). You can get a larger (but blockier) image by lowering your desktop resolution (640x480 will make the game fill most of the screen). It would be best to close other applications first, then re-set the desktop resolution/color depth, then spawn the game. After you finish playing and close the game window, re-set the display. Note to dialup internet users: If you don't want to tie up the phone line while playing, you can disconnect after you've played 1 game (all the gameplay data should be downloaded by then). If you still want to post high scores, play until you get a score you want to post, then reconnect to the internet while the 'Submit score [y/n]' prompt is up. Once you are reconnected, click the applet and then type 'y' to submit that score.
